Each position has a term of three years, with the exception of the Chairperson who serves two years as the Chairperson, and two years as the past Chairperson. The board nominates new members, and they are elected by vote of Alumni attending the annual reunion. The only requirement for any of the positions is that the candidate has graduated from Green Lake High School.
In addition to the board of directors, there is an Educational Gift committee that makes recommendations to the board regarding financial gifts to support the education of Green Lake High School students. The recommendations of the Educational Gift committee are then voted on by the board, and require a majority vote to pass.
The first Green Lake High School Alumni reunion was held on June 9, 1990 in the Green Lake High School gym. Dorothy Whiting Morris, valedictorian from the class of 1915, was the oldest person to attend. 93 year old Meade Thrall, from the class of 1918 commented to a news reporter on the first reunion, “I really liked it…I didn’t have time to do much talking. There were so many (people) there I hadn’t seen (for a long time) that I was busier than a bee shaking hands.” All graduating classes through 1950, and their teachers were invited to attend. Reunions have been held every year since then.
In 1991, the Green Lake Alumni Association awarded its first scholarship. In the years from 1991 through 2003, the group has given over $24,000 in scholarships to graduates of Green Lake High School.
